The Kybalion

The Seven Hermetic Principles

A Framework for Understanding Reality

The Kybalion presents a set of foundational principles attributed to the Hermetic tradition—teachings concerned with the nature of reality, consciousness, and transformation. These principles are not beliefs to adopt, but patterns to observe. They describe how experience unfolds, both within the human system and in the larger field of life.

Together, they offer a map for cultivating awareness, balance, and intentional participation in one’s inner and outer worlds.

1. Mentalism

All is Mind

Reality is fundamentally mental in nature. This does not mean that the world is imaginary, but that consciousness is the primary field through which experience arises. Thoughts, perceptions, and interpretations shape how reality is known and engaged.

Working with the mind—through attention, intention, and awareness—is therefore foundational to any form of transformation.

2. Correspondence

As Within, So Without

Patterns repeat across scales. Inner states are reflected outward, and external conditions influence the inner world. This principle invites observation of parallels between thoughts, emotions, behaviors, relationships, and environments.

By understanding correspondence, change can be approached at multiple levels—often beginning within.

3. Vibration
